About me and my work

I first started working in glass and metal about 20 years ago when I lived in Seattle, taking "leisure courses" in glass blowing, fused and cast glass, sandblasting and foundry metal sand-casting.

Before this I came from a science background, originally as a biologist and then as a systems engineer for IBM and a programmer for Data Connection.

My main production medium is kiln-formed glass, mostly fused and slumped but some casting. My studio is in my garden (my "shed") which I disappear to when I feel the urge to create. I have two small glass kilns in my studio. If I want to make very large pieces then I use the glass kilns at the local university.

The metal pieces I have made are mainly in welded steel, sometimes with glass parts added. These I made at the University of Hertfordshire when we lived in that area. I produced large garden pieces with the size limited only by what would fit in my Ford Galaxy to bring it home.
